BIMeta Law Enforcement Data Request Guidelines

BIMeta Law Enforcement Data Request Guidelines

We understand that you rely on us to protect your personal information and maintain the transparency you've grown accustomed to, especially regarding law enforcement inquiries for member data. While we adhere to relevant laws governing our business operations, our primary focus is on our members. Therefore, we insist that such requests adhere to established legal procedures, and we make it a point to inform members of any data request, unless prohibited by law or court order. Additionally, we believe in openness about the quantity and nature of requests we receive, which is why we publish a Transparency Report biannually.  For our latest reports, please see the link here.

Our Process Explanation:

Compliance with the Law:
Except in uncommon emergency situations, law enforcement organizations requesting information pertaining to member accounts are required to comply with official U.S. legal procedures, which include subpoenas, court orders, and search warrants. It's crucial to emphasize that specific types of member data, such as messages, invitations, and connections, necessitate a rigorous standard for disclosure and can only be revealed if a valid search warrant is issued by an authorized jurisdiction.

Requests from Outside the United States and EU:
In most cases, data requests originating from entities beyond the borders of the United States and the European Union ought to be submitted through official channels, such as a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) or a letter rogatory.

How to Make Data Requests as Law Enforcement Officials: For all requests, the agent's Badge/ID number and contact details must be included, and the member account should be clearly identified by providing either (1) the member's full name and associated email address or (2) the BIMeta public profile URL. Data requests can be submitted through the following link: BIMeta Portal. Alternatively, requests can be sent via certified mail, express courier, or made in person at the following location:

BIMeta Corporation
Attn: Legal Department
4424 Bristol Manor Drive
Las Vegas, NV 89108

What if it's an urgent situation? In highly exceptional situations where there is an evident and urgent risk of severe bodily harm or loss of life, we may assess and potentially address emergency data requests. To initiate such requests, law enforcement agents must employ the Emergency Disclosure Request Form as outlined in LinkedIn's Law Enforcement Data Request Guidelines. Furthermore, these requests must be accompanied by a signed statement, under penalty of perjury, from the law enforcement agent.
